Summary of interviews
Interview 1
Interview 1 was conducted to gather information from an elderly couple, Mr and Mrs Atkinson and their perspective of the HWY and its construction. The couple have been living permanently in Toolijooa for 14 years and had noticed a dramatic change in traffic congestion and density over recent years. They feel that before its construction the HWY lacked necessary safety features, with dangerous intersections and driveways(see fig 3.8 on Primary Photography page). In order to combat the increased traffic flow in the local area the HWY upgrade was very necessary and the Atkinson's were very much in favour of its construction. The construction fazes have impacted the couple in terms of their travel times, however the sequential proceedings of construction have had no impact on their livelihood, property or property value or lifestyle. The Atkinson's feel that the RMS have manage safety of the HWY's construction very well and been very responsive to any complaints, the 60km/h speed limit has been a safe alternative. Mr and Mrs Atkinson believe that upon completion the positives will heavily out weigh the Negatives, with unquestionable doubt, deeming it a successful endeavour.
Hypothesis
The negative impacts of the Highway Upgrade have affected local Toolijooa farmers, Dairy Industries and Commuters:
Upon the completion of the interview with Mr and Mrs Atkinson they believe Highway has had minimalist impact on, industries whilst having a medium impact on commuters.
The slowing of speed limit and widening of roads is having a positive impact toward motorists safety.
The interview with Mr and Mrs Atkinson has deemed the safety of the Highway and its construction safe, and a major contributing factor to this is the slowing of speed limit.(see fig 3.10 on Primary Photography page)
Although the construction may have detrimental impacts the positive aspects upon completion out weigh the negative impacts, thus allowing it to be an overall positive endeavour.
Mr and Mrs Atkinson have revealed that the HWY's construction and it's negatives have had little impact upon their lifestyle, and the positive impacts are beneficial on a personal level, and for the wider community, resulting in the HWY being a positive endeavour overall.

Interview 2
Interview 2 enabled one to view the HWY's construction through the eyes of Mr and Mrs Rainnie, a beef cattle family, and also local commuters. The family have been living in Toolijooa for 17 years and over the last few years had noticed an astronomical growth in traffic density . Before construction the family felt that the safety of the HWY was ill managed, resulting in numerous fatal car accidents of recent years. The family feel that the construction was absolutely necessary, to benefit the local area in terms of its growth and development, thus being very much in favour of its construction. The construction has effected the family in terms of unreliable estimations of commute and travel times, subjecting the family to allow for extra time when travelling. The HWY has affected the Rainnie's in terms of their livelihood within the beef cattle industry, as trucks have had difficulty accessing their property during construction, however the construction has had little impact upon their property value, and upon completion their property value is predicted to rise. Due to the reduction in speed the Rainnie's feel that the safety of the HWY during construction has been maintained to the best of ones ability, however it has also exaggerated congestion. Upon completion the Rainnie family strongly feel that the HWY will be a positive endeavour.
Hypothesis
The negative impacts of the Highway Upgrade have affected local Toolijooa farmers, Dairy Industries and Commuters:
The interview with the Rainnie family revealed that the HWY has affected them in terms of both commute, and farming industry, particularly within the beef industry, and trucks having difficulty entering their property.
The slowing of speed limit and widening of roads is having a positive impact toward motorists safety.
The Rainnie family believe that the RMS have done everything within their power to ensure motorists safety whilst construction pursues, and this has resulted in the reduction of speed limit, for the safety of motorists and construction efforts.(see fig 3.10 on Primary Photography page)
Although the construction may have detrimental impacts the positive aspects upon completion out weigh the negative impacts, thus allowing it to be an overall positive endeavour.
The interview with the Mr and Mrs Rainnie provide a detailed perspective of the HWY, that although the HWY's construction has had many various detrimental impacts upon them selves and the wider community, it is indeed a positive endeavour.

Interview 3
Interview 3 involved Mrs Smith, a mother and local resident in the Toolijooa area. Her and her family have been living in the Gerringong area for the last 17 years, and over recent years have noticed an increase in traffic and congestion. Before the construction of the HWY Mrs Smith feels that the safety of the HWY was adequate for the local area, however the safety of residents was jeopardised by the misuse of foreign motorists. Her and her family believe that the HWY upgrade was inevitable, yet the grand scale express-way to which the HWY is projected to become is an excessive gesture, and funds for the project could be used elsewhere. The initial construction of the HWY affected the Smith family on a multitude of levels, unfortunately their home and surrounding 17 acres was acquired by the NSW government and the family was evicted from their home and forced to seek residence elsewhere. The family now resides in Willow-Vale. Living further from the township the HWY had drastically affected their lifestyle and daily routine resulting in longer travel times and sequentially a more dangerous commute into town. However Mrs Smith is please with their new residence "If there had to be a place, this would be the place to go." The HWY has affected their livelihood as the construction has made some aspects of travel dangerous temporarily, however the family is pleased toward the RMS's attitude toward complaints, adjusting traffic conditions appropriately. The moving of house has restricted the family in terms of freedom, with less room and more neighbours around their new residence. Mrs Smith believes that the HWY's safety has been inadequate in stages throughout construction however the RMS have been quite responsive when her concerns have been put forward. The construction fazes have temporarily exaggerated congestion in the local area. The slowing of speed has been a beneficial effort toward the roads safety, however many motorist disobey such roads rules, and are 'speeding' in the local vicinity. From a personal perspective Mrs Smith feels that the negative impacts of the HWY, have had such a vast impact upon her family, an impact that will never be forgotten. However from a community point of view, the HWY will be a positive endeavour for the future.
Hypothesis
The negative impacts of the Highway Upgrade have affected local Toolijooa farmers, Dairy Industries and Commuters:
The Smith family Firmly believe the HWY has had various negative impacts, affecting local industries, farmers and commuters alike. Such impacts are derived from motorists safety.
The slowing of speed limit and widening of roads is having a positive impact toward motorists safety.
The completion of the interview with Mrs Smith highlighted that the construction of the HWY is a dangerous environment, and motorists safety has been compromised temporarily at times, and although the slowing of speed limit is having a positive impact toward motorists safety, it is not always obeyed by general motorists.(see fig 3.10 on Primary Photography page)
Although the construction may have detrimental impacts the positive aspects upon completion out weigh the negative impacts, thus allowing it to be an overall positive endeavour.
From a personal perspective provided by Mrs Smith within the interview the negative impacts of the HWY upon her family can be accounted for, however from a community perspective the Smith Family believe that the HWY is an overall positive endeavour.

Interview 4
Interview 4 was conducted to obtain information regarding the HWY and its impact upon Ms Oslear, a local dairy farmer that has lived in Toolijooa for the last 10 years. Over the last few years Ms Oslear had noticed a very dramatic increase in traffic density and due to this she feels that the safety of motorists was put at risk, resulting in many fatal car accidents. Mrs Oslear was very much in favour of the HWY's construction as she felt it would be a necessary asset to the local community, allowing for a safe and beneficial motoring environment. The initial construction had very little impact upon Ms Oslear, however the construction had minor implications toward her business as a dairy farmer. The construction and lack of driveway accessibility, caused difficulty for the milk Tanker to collecte the milk on a daily basis, however the RMS resurrected this with complimentary construction of a new driveway road access to Ms Oslears farm, and providing a safe turning lane for ease in property access (see fig 3.7 on Primary Photography page). Ms Oslear believes that the HWY has exaggerated traffic congestion in the local area, however upon completion this issue will be solved. The 60km/h speed limit has been a safe alternative however Ms Oslear feels that many do not obey the speed restrictions, defeating the initial purpose of the rules. Ms Oslear firmly believes that upon completion the HWY will be dramatically, safer and function as a better motoring environment, deeming that the positive aspects upon completion will dramatically outweigh the negativity enduced from construction.
Hypothesis
The negative impacts of the Highway Upgrade have affected local Toolijooa farmers, Dairy Industries and Commuters:
Ms Oslear feels that the HWY's construction has had a negative impact on dairy farmers and local industries, however she feels that the RMS have done a more tham adequate job in solving various issues.
The slowing of speed limit and widening of roads is having a positive impact toward motorists safety.
The Interview with Ms Oslear concludes that she believes that the HWY's safety has been improved by the lowering of the speed limit however, many motorists disobey such road rules, compromising ones safety.(see fig 3.10 on Primary Photography page)
Although the construction may have detrimental impacts the positive aspects upon completion out weigh the negative impacts, thus allowing it to be an overall positive endeavour.
Ms Oslear firmly believes that the negative impacts of the HWY's construction, pale into insignificance in comparison to the HWY's positive aspects upon completion, deeming it to be a very beneficial endeavour.
